No injuries after fire breaks out at Dawes Road apartment building

Toronto fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at apartment building in east-end Toronto on Monday.

Firefighters were called to the building on Dawes Road at Gower Street, near Victoria Park Avenue, around 12:15 p.m.

Toronto Fire says the one-alarm fire started on the balcony on the sixth floor. The fire then spread to the adjoining unit.

In a tweet, police said the building was evacuated due to the fire, but it is not clear if residents in all of the units were asked to leave.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire is since out.
