Elderly woman on scooter dies after being struck in Etobicoke

Toronto paramedics say a 71-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car while on an electric scooter in Etobicoke.
They were called to the scene At Lake Shore Boulevard near Islington Avenue just before 6 p.m.
The woman was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead in hospital.
The vehicle involved remained on the scene.
Lake Shore is closed in both directions at Islington Avenue.
