5 taken to hospital after car mounts sidewalk, strikes crowd in Mississauga hit-and-run

By News Staff

Several people were sent to hospital following a dramatic hit-and-run in Mississauga Sunday morning, say Peel Police.

Const. Sarah Patten says an altercation occurred between two groups inside the &Company Resto Bar, which is near the intersection of Enfield Place and Kariya Drive, just before 3 a.m. Security then escorted the groups out of the bar, and the confrontation continued outside. A man involved in the altercation then got in a vehicle and struck a crowd of people on the sidewalk.

Peel Paramedics say five people were transported to hospital, and a sixth patient was treated on scene.

Three of the victims that were transported are female, and two are male, say police. All are in their twenties.

One of the victims, a 23-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries, but non-life-threatening injuries. The four other victims suffered minor injuries.

The suspect fled the scene.

He is described as a 35-40 year old black male, 5 foot 6 inches, a medium build with dark hair in braids. He was last seen wearing dark-coloured pants and a shirt with a heart symbol and eyes.

Police say he was driving a “dark-coloured Acura,” that is missing a front licence plate and may have some front-end damage.

Investigators say they are working to piece together witness statements and surveillance camera images. They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact them.
