Pickering man charged after women recorded in Oshawa shopping mall

A Pickering man is facing voyeurism and criminal harassment charges after several women were recorded at the Oshawa Centre shopping mall on Valentine’s Day.

A group of women in their 20s were walking in the mall when another shopper notified them of the man who looked like he was recording images of their buttocks. After the women confronted the man, Durham police said he appeared to have erased the videos, then left the mall and drove away.

At least one person followed the man and took photographs of him, in order to identify him.

Police are looking to speak with more women who may have been filmed at the mall between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. They have identified three woman who are described as:

  • White, with dark hair wearing a striped dark and white sweater, red skirt, black shoes, and carrying a purse.
  • Black, with dark hair talking on a cell phone, wearing a yellow jacket, black and white top, black pants and black shoes.
  • White, with dark hair, wearing a black jacket, shorts, long stockings, and dark and white shoes.

Police are also asking any witnesses to contact them.

Kevin Whyte, 53, of Pickering is charged with five counts of voyeurism and one count of criminal harassment. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
