Man, 24, arrested after fleeing Oshawa police stop

By THE CANADIAN PRESS

A Pickering man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly sped away from police early Friday.

Officers in Oshawa were trying to pull a motorist over for weaving in and out of the lanes.

They say the driver refused to stop and instead sped onto Highway 401.

Police gave up their chase but deployed a helicopter to keep an eye on the vehicle.

In east Toronto, the driver stopped and ran off, leaving two passengers behind.

A 24-year-old suspect was soon arrested and charged with fleeing police, racing, driving while suspended and a drug offence.
