A heads-up for drivers in the city’s west end: a portion of Kipling Avenue will be closed starting Friday as road crews remove two bridges.
Kipling, from Dundas Street West to Bloor Street West, will be off-limits from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
The bridges over Kipling between that stretch will be torn down to turn the highway-esque junction into a pedestrian-friendly area.
The work is part of the ongoing re-development of the area known as the Six Points Interchange.
During the closure, drivers can use the following routes to travel north on Kipling Avenue:
- West on Dundas Street West (south of Bloor Street West), north on Aukland Road and east on Bloor Street West to re-join Kipling Avenue
- West on Dundas Street West (north of Bloor Street West) and use the Dundas/Kipling ramp to re-join Kipling Avenue
Drivers can use the following routes to travel south on Kipling Avenue:
- West on Bloor Street West, south on Aukland Road and east on Dundas Street West to re-join Kipling Avenue
- South on Dunbloor Road and west on Dundas Street West to re-join Kipling Avenue
Editor’s Note: This story was corrected to show the actual date of the closure is next weekend and not this weekend as initially reported
