Standoff with armed man ends in ‘peaceful surrender’ in Keele and Eglinton area

A standoff ended between police and a man who barricaded himself with a gun inside an apartment in the Keele Street and Eglinton Avenue area on Thursday afternoon.

The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and is now in custody, Toronto police tweeted, adding that officers “negotiated a peaceful surrender.”

Hold-and-secures have been lifted at two nearby schools, Charles E Webster Public School and York Memorial Collegiate Institute.
