The Raptors NBA championship was not only a celebration for Toronto but the entire country of Canada as newspapers from Vancouver to Montreal embraced the franchise which captured the hearts of a nation.
South of the border, newspapers played on the Raptors prehistoric nickname as well as its geographic location
The diversity of the Raptors roster was also celebrated internationally in the South China Morning Post, The Journal Du Cameroun and the Catalan News
While in California, the team’s victory was somewhat muted as most of the headlines focused on the end of an era, both with the Warriors and in Oakland.
