Toronto police say no black bear has been found after a reported sighting in Etienne Brule Park Thursday.
Officers were called around 11:15 after someone says they spotted a large black bear drinking from the water.
Sgt. David Hopkinson says officers took the report seriously “because it’s so close to where people walk and live … we have to check it out for people’s safety.”
After a full search of the park and speaking to other people in the area, they had no sightings or signs of a bear.
Hopkinson says they have had reports of bears in the north and east ends of the city, but this is the first time he can recall reviving a report of a bear in the west end.
