Exxon: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Friday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $5.69 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Irving, Texas-based company said it had net income of $1.33. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 41 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations, but Exxon does not adjust its reported results based on one-time events such as asset sales. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 44 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $67.17 billion in the period.

Exxon shares have declined 7% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has risen almost 2%. The stock has fallen 10% in the last 12 months.
