15-year-old dead following shooting near Jane and Sheppard

Toronto police are investigating after a teenage boy was shot near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West Sunday evening.
Police said they were called at 6:07 p.m. to the North York neighbourhood for a report of a shooting.
A white SUV, believed to be an Audi, was reportedly parked on the street next to a parking lot by 1884 Sheppard Avenue West.
Police say a 15-year-old boy got into the car with another boy and while inside the parked car, the victim was shot.
Both the victim and the other boy tried to flee the scene, but the victim collapsed a short distance away. The other boy was not injured.
The car fled the scene.
When officers arrived, they found the 15-year-old boy suffering from a serious gunshot wound.
The boy was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries by paramedics. He later succumbed to those injuries police said.
He has since been identified as Jeremiah Ranger of Toronto.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
Police have released video of the incident in hopes of identifying the driver of the suspect vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked by police to contact them directly or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
