Ontario reports 391 new coronavirus cases, 33 new deaths

Ontario reported 391 new cases of COVID-19 and 33 new deaths on Saturday.

The increase in cases represents a 1.8 per cent growth over yesterday’s total.

Cases had grown at an average of 1.6 per cent per day over the last three days.

The province now has a total of 22,313 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 17,020 of those cases resolved.

The 33 new deaths equals the second lowest daily total reported this month, leaving the province with a total of 1,858 deaths.

According to the Ministry of Long-Term Care, 1,360 people have died of coronavirus, an increase of 40 deaths from the previous day.

Public Health Ontario has recorded just 835 deaths in long-term care homes which is an increase of 13 from Friday’s report.

The number of people in the hospital dropped and remains under 1,000, while the number of people in intensive care and on a ventilator remained virtually unchanged.

The province says it was able to test 17,768 people for the novel coronavirus Friday, a slight drop from the previous day.

Toronto Public Health reported 129 new cases of COVID-19 – that is 32 per cent of all new cases reported in Ontario.

Toronto’s total stands at 8,386 with 26 per cent of those cases resolved, 6,189.

Fifteen new deaths were reported, up from nine on Friday, for a total of 672 in the city.

While the number of hospitalizations increased by 15 to 428, those patients in the ICU and on ventilators remained unchanged.
