2 children, 1 adult hurt in Markham house blaze

Two children and one adult were hurt in a house fire in Markham Sunday morning.

York Regional Police said emergency crews called to a residence on Bur Oak Avenue between Kennedy Road and William Berczy Road for a report of a building fire at around 11 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, smoke and flames were seen coming out of a home.

Police said a 14-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl were rushed to the SickKids hospital. A woman was also transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

There’s extensive damage to the structure. The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in and will be investigating the cause of the blaze.

Bur Oak Avenue between Kennedy Road and William Berczy Road remains closed for the investigation.
