Toronto police seek help finding stolen speed camera

By News Staff

Toronto police want the public’s help finding a stolen speed camera.

The 800 pound automated speed enforcement device was taken from the Queen Street West and Jameson Avenue area sometime between June 10th and June 12th, say police.

Investigators say a hydraulic lift is typically needed to lift one of these cameras.

The City of Toronto says the camera was replaced last Friday and that it is the responsibility of the vendor to replace stolen or damaged devices, at no cost to the city.

Starting July 6th, the city will begin ticketing drivers who are speeding in the 50 locations where Automatic Speed Enforcement cameras have been installed.
