Halton police say the victim of a homicide last week was a 16-year-old boy from Brampton.

Investigators were called to Guelph Line and No. 10 Sideroad, just north of Highway 401, around 6 a.m. on June 30 after the deceased male was spotted by a passerby.

It was determined the teenage boy had died as the result of a gunshot wound. His name has been withheld at the request of his family.

No suspect information has been released.

Investigators have ruled the death a homicide and Halton police’s Homicide Unit is being assisted by Peel Regional Police, as the victim was from Peel Region.

Police are also asking for anyone with home surveillance or dash cam footage from the area where the incident occurred, between 8 p.m. on June 29 and 6 a.m. on June 30, to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
