York Regional Police say one person is dead after colliding into a dump truck in Markham this morning.

Officers were called to Woodbine Avenue, just north of Steeles, just before 10:30 a.m. for reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles.

Sergeant Andy Pattenden says the male driver was pronounced dead on scene.

“That area is (busy), so I am sure there were a lot of vehicles around at the time. We will be canvassing the area for video surveillance and we’re appealing to any witnesses that haven’t spoken to officers yet to please give us a call.”

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
