The demonstrations are intended to draw attention to the 14-hundred dominion workers, who have been on strike in Newfoundland since August.
A multi-location news conference was held on Facebook Live today at 2:30 p.m.
Naureen Rizvi, Unifor Ontario Regional Director, spoke from Ajax.
“These front line grocery store workers are fighting a company that makes a billion dollars a year for a living wage. Canadians need to hold our largest, richest corporations to account if they aren’t willing to provide a decent living wage to workers.”
The demonstrators are blocking distributors at the location on Bayly Street East in Ajax. The demonstrators are letting suppliers through.
Yesterday, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Labour Minister appointed a mediator to help end the strike after talks broke off last week.
