Life-threatening injuries sustained in single-vehicle crash in Etobicoke

By News Staff

At least one person is fighting for their life following a single-vehicle crash in an Etobicoke neighbourhood early Sunday morning.

Police allege an 18-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic northbound on Islington Avenue near Dundas Street West when he ran a red light.

“The driver swerved to avoid another vehicle in the intersection, lost control and struck the northeast curb, overturning the vehicle onto its roof,” police said in a news release Sunday evening.

Investigators said three men in the vehicle were taken to the hospital. The rear passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and the driver and front-seat passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
