York police looking for suspect vehicle in hit-and-run that injured pedestrian

York police are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian in Markham.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Denison Street and Birchmount Road around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

A 58-year-old woman had been struck by a van that fled the scene. She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle fled south on Birchmount Road. It’s described as a white panel van with a black front grill.

The driver is encouraged to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in.
