A man believed to be in his 20s is dead following a shooting in Brampton on Wednesday evening.
Peel police responded to reports of shots being fired on Archdekin Drive, in the area of Rutherford Road North and Williams Parkway, just after 7 p.m.
When officers arrived they found a victim suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
“Despite the best efforts of first responders on scene, that male has died as a result of the injuries that he sustained,” said Const. Akhil Mooken.
Police believe the victim was sitting in a parked car when the suspect approached and fired multiple shots at close range.
The gunman then fled the scene in another vehicle.
Because of the shooting’s proximity to Highway 410, police are asking anyone who was on the highway around the time of the shooting, and had a dashcam recording, to contact officers.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
