GTA residents 50+ eligible for COVID vaccine appointments in hotspots today

People aged 60 and over can now book COVID-19 vaccine appointments in every region across Ontario.

Appointments can be booked through the province’s online booking portal.

The province has also released a list of postal codes where vaccines will be available to anyone 50 and older in COVID-19 hotspots and many are in the GTA.

Toronto 50+

Anyone 50 or older in an identified hotspot neighbourhood can book an appointment at a city-run mass immunization clinic. The following postal codes will be eligible as of 8 a.m. on April 9:

Anyone who is 50 or older in the northwest Toronto area bounded by Steeles Avenue to the north, Bathurst Street to the east, Eglinton Avenue to the south, and the Humber River/Islington Avenue to the east can book a vaccine appointment on the Humber River Hospital website.

Unity Health’s St. Joseph Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital will be vaccinating anyone 50 or older in following postal codes by appointment. Appointments can be made on the Unity Health website.

Peel Region 50+

Peel Region will begin booking vaccine appointments for residents aged 50 and older in hotspots this week.

Dr. Lawrence Loh said a full schedule for the region will be released on Thursday that outlines when each age group in the region can get their shot.

“I want to be clear that moving quickly down the age brackets will be the fastest and most effective way to ensure that we get Peel vaccinated in the least amount of time,” said Loh.

Appointments can be made on the province’s online booking portal as of 8 a.m. on Friday, April 9.

York Region 45+

York Region announced Tuesday that it’s “advancing” those eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations to now include residents aged 45 to 59 (born in 1962 to 1976) who live in five identified high-priority communities.

Vaccine appointments will be accepted as of Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. through york.ca/COVID19Vaccine or by calling “Access York” at 1-877-464-9675.

York Region has identified five initial communities including four in Vaughan and one in the Markham at the following postal codes:

York Region 50+

The following postal codes have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots in Phase 2 of the provincial rollout which will make anyone 50 and older eligible.

Durham Region 50+

The following postal codes have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots in Phase 2 of the provincial rollout which will make anyone 50 and older eligible.

Appointments can be made through the Region of Durham website or the province’s online booking portal as of 8 a.m. on Friday, April 9.

Halton Region 50+

The following postal codes have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots in Phase 2 of the provincial rollout which will make anyone 50 and older eligible.

Appointments can be made on the province’s online booking portal as of 8 a.m. on Friday, April 9.

Halton Region announced that as of April 16, it will begin accepting vaccine appointments for those 18-and-up considered high risk, as well as essential workers 18-and-older that cannot work from home.
