Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after crash on Hwy. 401 near Oshawa

A 31-year-old motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after crashing on Highway 401 near Oshawa.

Police say they were called to the off-ramp at Ritson Road where the crash occurred. The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed briefly but have since reopened.

The man, who was ejected from the motorcycle, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

OPP say witnesses tell them the motorcycle was spotted driving fast and weaving between lanes.

Investigators are currently on the scene and the off-ramp/on-ramp at Ritson remains closed.

There is no word on when they might reopen.
