Canada Day is a chance to take break for many workers, meaning many stores are closed or have modified hours.
If you have to run out for last-minute BBQ supplies — many grocery stores are open, but check your local place’s hours. Here’s a look at what else is – or isn’t – available on July 1:
Retail and government offices
While still operating within reopening rules, some malls will be open, including Eaton Centre, Square One and Vaughan Mills. Sherway Gardens and Yorkdale are closed. Like the grocery stores, many drug stores and pharmacies are open, but with modified hours.
All banks, libraries and post offices are closed, along with all non-emergency government offices. However emergency shelter hotlines and other urgent service is still available.
While LCBOs and many Beer Stores are closed, there are some exceptions.
Select Beer stores will be open for limited hours on Canada Day. In Toronto, the five open locations are 227 Gerrard St. E, 2625A Weston Rd. 452 Bathurst St. 636 Greenwood Ave. and 904 Dufferin. St.
All of those except the Greenwood store will also be open until 10 p.m. on June 30. For open Canada Day locations outside of Toronto, there is a full searchable list on the Beer Store’s website.
Transit
The TTC will be operating on its holiday schedule, meaning routes operate on their Sunday timetables, but starting earlier in the day, at six a.m. Go Transit is also operating on its Sunday schedule.
In York Region, the Viva will operate on a Saturday schedule.
