One person is dead and two others injured following an early morning three-vehicle crash in Brampton.
Peel police say the crash occurred at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Sandalwood Parkway just after 5 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the initial collision involved a vehicle travelling westbound on Sandalwood Parkway and a southbound vehicle on Hurontario Street. The force of the impact of that crash ripped the engine block out of one of the vehicles, coming to rest approximately 100 metres south of the intersection.
A third vehicle was caught up in the debris scattered across the roadway from the first collision.
Police say the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene but was found approximately four kilometres away and taken into custody on suspicion of impaired driving.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene while another person was taken to a trauma centre. A third individual was treated at a local hospital.
