A 15-year-old is dead and several other teens suffered critical injuries following a single vehicle crash in Durham region.

Durham Regional Police say just before 1 a.m. Sunday, a pickup truck was heading southbound on Sideline Road 18 when it lost control between Highway 7 and Concession Road 10 in Brock Township before rolling into a ditch.

The truck, which was being driving by a 16-year-old female, had seven other teenage occupants at the time of the crash. Four of them were ejected during the rollover and a 15-year-old from Sunderland was pronounced dead.

The remaining six teens, aged between 15 and 17, were transported to local hospital before being air-lifted by Ornge ambulance to Toronto-based trauma centres.

Two are listed in critical condition while four are in serious but stable condition.

Police have not released any details as to what may have led up to the crash
