Police arrest suspect in Liberty Village bridge fire

A 28-year-old man is facing several charges in connection with a fire that broke out beneath the King-Liberty Pedestrian Cycle Bridge.

Fire crews responded to reports of a fire under the bridge just before 8 p.m. Friday night. While no one was injured the damage was significant enough that it forced the closure of the walkway which connects King Street to Western Battery Road in Liberty Village.

Surveillance video shows a man approaching the area and setting something on fire. Investigators reported finding an amount of combustible material, which they claim the suspect used to start the fire.

Police say Vincze Laszlo of Scarborough was arrested Sunday and is facing several charges including arson causing damage to property and mischief over $5,000.
