A 15-year-old girl is in hospital with serious, possibly critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle near Kensington Market.

Toronto police were called to Bathurst and Ulster Streets for reports that someone was hit by a car.

The teen was rushed to a trauma centre. Police initially said the victim was a male.

Investigators say the driver remained on the scene.

Delays are expected in the area.

In a separate incident, one woman was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the city.

Police responded just before 6:30 p.m. in the Lansdowne Avenue and Dundas West area. The female victim has since been transported to a nearby trauma centre. She is expected to survive, officers say.

Investigators have since re-opened all roads in that area.
