Dashcam footage captured a shocking alleged hit-and-run involving a woman and her empty stroller in the city’s Oakwood Village neighbourhood.
CityNews viewer Steven who witnessed the incident and captured the footage early Tuesday morning at the corner of Rosemount and Lauder Avenues, said he was “freaked out” until she told him the baby was not in the stroller.
In the video, a dark coloured SUV is seen travelling southbound on Lauder Avenue, allegedly ignoring the stop sign before striking the stroller and nearly missing the woman before making a left turn on Rosemount Ave and accelerating away from the intersection.
“It’s a four way stop. He just blows right through it,” Steven told CityNews “He didn’t slow down but sped up. He just took off.”

The video continues with the neighbourhood resident rushing to the assistance of the woman and what he believed at the time to be an injured child in the stroller, laying on it’s side in the middle of the road.
Seconds later, you can hear the woman reassure Steven that the child was not inside, before he confirms he captured it all on his video.
The father who had just dropped his children off at a nearby school moments earlier says that he was rattled by what he witnessed.
“I walk my kids there all the time. I walk that street exactly everyday. Just today, I was driving and I caught it on my dashcam”
Steven says he has shared the video with Toronto Police’s Traffic Services Division.
Traffic Services tells CityNews they have been in touch with the witness and are looking into the incident.
