Waterloo regional police say a 28-year-old man from Mississauga is in custody after officers responded to a bomb threat on a plane at Waterloo International Airport on Monday afternoon.

In a release, police said they were called to the airport at around 2 p.m. after a passenger alerted airport staff that another passenger said he had a bomb on the plane.

“Upon arrival, police took one male into custody,” police said. “The plane was also evacuated of all passengers.”

The man has been charged with ‘Uttering Threats to Cause Death’ and ‘Mischief – Interfere with Operation of Property’ and will be held for a bail hearing.

Police said no explosives were found on the plane.

The airport was initially locked down but in an update on Tuesday, officials told CityNews 570 that the airport has resumed normal operations.
