Durham regional police are trying to identify a man who was caught on surveillance video approaching and touching more than a dozen young children at an Oshawa mall.
Police say their investigation began on Wednesday, Jan. 5 after the man approached a seven-year-old girl while she was walking with her mother at Oshawa Centre mall on King Street West.
Police allege the man grabbed the young girl by her arm and walked away when confronted.
Mall security was notified and police were contacted.
Police say they made a disturbing discovery while investigating the initial incident. While going through hours of surveillance video from the mall, they spotted the same male approaching and touching numerous children.
In a release, police said they were able to “identify over a dozen instances where this unknown male suspect approaches young kids while in the company of their parents and makes some form of physical contact with the child before walking away.”
He’s described as white, in his mid 20s with brown shaggy hair. He was wearing dark prescription glasses and a white jacket with dark pants.
