Jackass returns! They’re all getting older, but they’re still doing the craziest stunts out there! Will they take the top spot this week, or could it go to a miniseries about an infamous sex tape? Maybe the latest Jack Reacher adaptation will steal that top spot? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!
Reacher
Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video
Let’s start this week off with some action!

Jack Reacher prepares to do what he does best in Reacher.
Reacher is a new show based on the book series by Lee Childs, called Jack Reacher. Reacher is a former military policeman who now spends his days travelling the United States, looking for troublesome situations he can help out with. There were previously two films made about the character, both starring Tom Cruise (of Eyes Wide Shut and Magnolia). In this new show, Reacher is played by Alan Ritchson (of Smallville and Titans). In this show, he heads to a small town in Georgia and is immediately arrested for a murder he did not commit. This show also stars Willa Fitzgerald (from the Scream show), Malcolm Goodwin (From iZombie), and Bruce McGill (from National Lampoon’s Animal House).

Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliché
Where to watch: VOD/Cinema
Next up, it’s time for a documentary about a punk icon!
Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliché is a film about Poly Styrene, who was a British mixed race punk singer who led the band X-Ray Spex. This film shows a lot of archival footage of her, with Ruth Negga (from Loving) playing her in voiceover narration adapted from her diary. The documentary also focuses on her daughter, Celeste Bell (who co-directed the film with Paul Sng). Celeste made the the film in memoriam of Poly Styrene, as she reckons with the legacy of being the daughter of an icon. You can read a review of the film here.
You can watch this movie on your VOD service of choice, by seeing it at the Hot Docs Cinema, or by renting it on their website!
Murderville
Where to watch: Netflix
Now, let’s take a look at a murder mystery with a comedic twist!
Murderville is a new show starring Canadian Will Arnett (from Bojack Horseman and Arrested Development) as murder detective Terry Seattle. Every day, he’s on the case investigating the newest body that turns up in the morgue. But what’s different about this detective is he only works with real-life celebrities, and only one per case. This show features several celebrities as his partners, including Sharon Stone (from Casino), Kumail Nanjiani (from Silicon Valley), and Annie Murphy (from Schitt’s Creek) among others. The twist is that the celebrities don’t know what’s happening, so they have to improv everything.

Pam & Tommy
Where to watch: Disney+
Next up, we’re going back in time to the 1990s!

Pam and Tommy react with shock in Pam & Tommy.
Pam & Tommy is a new miniseries about (you guessed it) Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. Here, the Baywatch star and rock star are played by Lily James (from Baby Driver) and Sebastian Stan (from I, Tonya) respectively. This series dramatizes the rise in popularity of their sex tape, which became a huge scandal for both stars. The tape was stolen by a guy played by Seth Rogen (from This is the End and Steve Jobs), and he teams up with another pornographic actor (played by Nick Offerman from Devs) to distribute it.
You can watch this episode weekly on Disney+ now!
Jackass Forever
Where to watch: Cinemas
Last and certainly not least, the return of one of the 21st century’s greatest franchises!
Jackass Forever is the fifth film in the Jackass franchise, after the previous three entries and Bad Grandpa. It features most of the Jackass crew returning (excluding Ryan Dunn, who died in 2011, and Bam Margera, who was fired from the production). They’re all pushing 50 now, so naturally the stunts are more dangerous for them. This film also sees some new people joining including musicians Machine Gun Kelly and Tyler the Creator, as well as Eric Andre (from the Eric Andre show). Jackass has always been a good way for straight men to express homo-eroticism, and is the the closest piece of art we have to camp in the modern day. In an era of regurgitated IP, seeing some people trying to light their farts on fire underwater is content that society needs.
You can watch this film in cinemas now!
