The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) board has approved a plan that will see more than two dozen bus routes reconfigured to accommodate the opening of the Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown LRT in 2022.
TTC staff said in a report reviewed by the board on Thursday that the changes are being done after public consultation to provide more direct connections to the new 25-stop, 19-kilometre line between the new Mount Dennis station and Kennedy subway station and to reduce the duplication of bus services along Eglinton Avenue.
“Although some stop adjustments will result in the relocation or removal of stops, which means a change in a customer’s walk to or from transit, the overall benefits of the routing changes are projected to outweigh such inconveniences,” the report said.

According to a transit expansion update considered by the board on Thursday, staff said crews are working toward a tentative Eglinton Crosstown LRT opening date of October 9 — noting that date is subject to an updated project schedule.
The move is part of a suite of measures contained in the 2022 service plan, which will also see service boosts and other unrelated routing changes in response to additional trips being taken by passengers.
