Remains found in Oshawa last November identified as Kandis Fitzpatrick: police
Durham regional police confirmed on Wednesday that human remains discovered in Oshawa last November are those of Kandis Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick was last seen in 2008.
In 2018, her DNA was discovered in an Oshawa home, but her body was not recovered at the time.

Adam Strong was ultimately convicted of manslaughter in connection to her death.
Strong, who was also convicted of first-degree murder in the killing of Rori Hache in 2017, was handed a life sentence in May 2021, with no chance of parole for 25 years.
In an update Wednesday, police revealed that while incarcerated for the two deaths, Strong told a correctional officer that he had information about where Fitzpatrick’s body could be found.
Durham police investigators were contacted, and with judicial approval Strong left the prison on Nov. 4, 2021, and led investigators to the area where he said he buried Fitzpatrick’s remains in Oshawa.
A forensics team was assembled, and on Nov. 8, partial remains were discovered. They were sent for DNA analysis and were confirmed as belonging to Fitzpatrick.

When asked why Strong suddenly shared the information that led police to Fitzpatrick’s remains, Det. Doris Carriere would only say that “there was no financial compensation and no added privileges for him while in custody.”
Carriere said at this time there’s no evidence connecting Strong to any other victims, and police aren’t planning on laying any further charges.
