Ontario expands booster eligibility for youth 12 to 17

Ontario has expanded eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots to youth aged 12 to 17.

As of 8 a.m. Friday, Ontarians in that age group well join adults and be able to book a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Individuals must be 12 years old at the time of booking and appointments will be made 168 days, or roughly six months, after a second dose.

Appointments can be made through the provincial booking system as well as select pharmacies.

As of Monday, 45 per cent of Ontarians have three doses of the vaccine, while 92.4 per cent of Ontarians 12+ have at least one dose and 90.1 per cent have two doses.

The province announced Monday that the proof of vaccination requirement will come to an end on March 1st when most pandemic health measures are lifted.
