Member of Quebec-based anti-COVID mandate group charged by Ottawa police

Ottawa police have laid more charges in connection with the freedom trucker convoy.

Police have charged 48-year-old Steeve Charland of Grenville, Que., with mischief and counselling to commit the offence of mischief.

Charland is part of a Quebec-based group that opposes COVID-19 health measures.

He was arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police on Saturday night in Vankleek Hill.

Charland was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.

Police have charged more than 100 people with various offences in relation to the three-week protest in downtown Ottawa.

Two prominent protest organizers, Tamara Lich and Pat King, have been denied bail.
