“We just really need her back. We love and miss her so much.” It’s a desperate plea from the family of Emily Bailey. The 23-year-old hasn’t been seen since New Years day and now the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit is taking over the investigation.
According to investigators, Bailey attended a New Years Eve party on Weir Street in Hamilton. The next morning she left to go to a friend’s home.
“There’s indications that she was heading to a friend’s house, but that never occurred,” Detective Sargeant Jim Callendar said in an update Wednesday morning.
Bailey’s family reported her missing on January 10, after not hearing from her for several days.
Investigators say new information has come forward allowing the homicide unit to take over the investigation.
“We believe the circumstances around her disappearance have indicated the possibility of foul play.” Callendar says, adding that there is no indication she left Hamilton.
“This isn’t like her. She’s always with her family, always worried about her children … I know somebody knows something and somebody needs to come forward and tell somebody. We need to know what happened … For our sake and her girls. Her little girls,” said Bailey’s mother, Lori Bevan.
Police are asking for anyone with information to contact investigators or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
