The Toronto Police Hold Up Squad has made two arrests in connection with four “takeover-style” robberies at pharmacies across the GTA.
Officers in Toronto and Peel Region responded to three robberies at retail pharmacies between April 13 and 14.
Police allege the two suspects would use verbal threats and physical violence during the incidents while demanding money and drugs.
The pair took off in a stolen car with a quantity of cash and narcotics.
On April 16, officers responded to another robbery at a pharmacy in the Kipling Avenue and Albion Road area of Etobicoke.
The suspects in this case committed a similar style robbery while armed with a knife. They once again took off with a quantity of narcotics before fleeing in a stolen car.
Officers were able to locate the suspects nearby while they were fleeing and took them into custody.
A 20-year-old man from Bradford, Talha Ahmed, and a 17-year-old boy from Toronto are facing ten charges each, including robbery with a weapon and multiple counts of robbery and disguise with intent.
The pair appeared in court in downtown Toronto on Sunday morning.
