No injuries after 2-alarm fire at Keele and Lawrence

By Dilshad Burman

Toronto Fire was called to a two-alarm blaze at a high rise building under construction in North York.

Crews responded to the area near Lawrence Avenue West and Keele Street around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Toronto Fire says there were multiple fires throughout the building.

Platoon chief Wayne Patterson clarified that the building is not yet occupied, but construction workers were inside and some sought refuge on balconies.

The smoke from the scene drifted into nearby apartments due to strong winds and Toronto Fire says they received multiple calls from people in the area about smoke in their units.

No injuries were reported and the Fire Marshall is investigating to determine the cause of the blaze.
