MUST-WATCH: The return of Canadian comedic legends

The Kids in the Hall are back after nearly 30 years from their last show! But will their comedic stylings take them to the top of the MUST-WATCH top 10? Perhaps it will go to the latest Rebel Wilson film, or a remake of a classic horror film? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!

Senior Year

Let’s start this week off with something light!

Senior Year stars Rebel Wilson (from Pitch Perfect and Cats) as a woman who recently awoke from a 20 year coma. In 2002 she was the cheer captain until her unfortunate accident. Now that she’s up and back at it, she wants to go back to high school and finish senior year. But it’s a whole different world in 2022 than it was back in 2002, and she’s got a lot to learn. This film also stars Sam Richardson (from Detroiters), Chris Parnell (from Archer), and Angourie Rice (from the Nice Guys).

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Now, let’s take a look at a remake of a beloved romantic drama!

The Time Traveler’s Wife stars Theo James (from Divergent) as the titular time traveler, and Rose Leslie (from Game of Thrones) as his titular wife. This new version (created by Steven Moffat of Doctor Who) of the classic novel is about a man who has an unfortunate and involuntary condition called Chrono-Impairment. He travels through time when stressed, but has no control over when or where he goes. He simply keeps on travelling. He eventually meets the woman that will become his wife, and she already knows exactly who he is because she’s already met him several times.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Next up, it’s time for law on the streets!

The Lincoln Laywer is the latest adaptation of the classic novel. It was previously a film starring Matthew McConaughey (from Dazed and Confused), and now it is a show starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (from the Magnificent Seven and the tv version of From Dusk Till Dawn). Created by David E. Kelley (the creator of Boston Legal and Big Little Lies), this show is about Mickey Haller, a lawyer who works out of his Lincoln. His former partner dies, and he’s given his the latest case of tech mogul accused of murdering his wife and her boyfriend. But the Lincoln Lawyer’s own family could be in danger as well. This show also stars Neve Campbell (from Scream), Becki Newton (from Ugly Betty), and Jazz Raycole (from My Wife and Kids).

Firestarter

Now, it’s time for a remake of a classic horror film!

This new version of Firestarter stars newcomer Ryan Keira Armstrong as Charlie, the titular firestarter. She is the young daughter of telepathic parents Andy and Vicky (played by Zac Efron of High School Musical and Sydney Lemmon of Helstrom). They hope to protect her from the scary world as best they can, lest it overwhelms her and her power destroys those around her. But the agency that gave her parents those powers want to hunt Charlie down and study her. And they’ll do anything to get their hands on her.

Next up, the return of Canadian icons!

It’s been nearly 30 years since the Kids in the Hall last made a sketch, but they’re back! Reviving the show for a sixth season on Amazon Prime Video, this is also Amazon’s first original Canadian show. All five members have returned, that’s Dave Foley, Mark McKinney, Scott Thompson, Bruce McCulloch and Kevin McDonald. And now that they’re older (and on Prime), they can dress up however they want, say whatever they want, and do absolutely whatever they want!
