Several Richmond Hill townhouses heavily damaged in overnight fire

Several townhouses at a complex in Richmond Hill have been heavily damaged after a fire early Monday.
A York Regional Police spokesperson said emergency crews were called to the complex on Carrville Road, near Hillcrest Mall, at around 1 a.m. with reports of a fire.
The spokesperson said the blaze went on to spread to eight to 10 units, adding most became fully engulfed in flames.

Residents were forced to evacuate due to the fire and many have since been displaced.
However, there were no injuries reported by anyone and everyone was accounted for.
Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal was called to investigate the cause and the circumstances of the blaze as well as where exactly it began.
