Media and hospitality group Time Out released its second annual rankings of the ‘world’s coolest streets’ and a west-end Toronto street cracked the top 15.
According to the list, Ossington Avenue is the 14th ‘coolest’ street in the world, with the publication highlighting the bustling strips restaurants, live music, and vintage shopping.
Time Out says the stretch of Ossington between Dundas Street and Queen Street West has something going on “nearly every night of the week,” and serves the “kind of nights out that call for leather jackets, not heels.”
“You can parade the street and shop for everything from carefully selected vintage to garms by rising Canadian designers,” the editors say. “For a leisurely afternoon, cosy up at one of the several hip and snug coffee shops and wine bars.”
The list shouts out a number of local businesses along the avenue, including Bellwoods Brewery, Bang Bang, Sweaty Betty’s, and Melanie Auld.
Another Canadian street took the top spot on the list, with Montreal’s Rue Wellington ranking at number one.
The list says that street has “killer cocktail bars, stellar brunch spots, some of the best sandwiches.”
“Come summer, the promenade becomes pedestrian-only, with a free tuk-tuk service to get you from one end to the next. Does it get any cooler than that?”
