Emergency room nightmare highlights hospital staffing crisis

Have you tried some of this year's interesting food items at the CNE? Was it worth the cost? We break down the cost-effective dining at the EX. Plus, NASA has done it again, completing another remarkable experiment on Mars.

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is slowly wrapping up as thousands have flooded the annual summer event in Toronto, but many are pointing to a standard menu item as a ridiculous rip-off.

A user on Reddit shared a photo of a “sausage on a bun” that they ordered from the CNE. It’s underwhelming in every sense of the word.

One particularly clever Toronto Redditor chimed in, saying, “Wow, that’s rough. I would definitely choose the Bad Service (35%) tip option.”

Another commenter came to the defence of CNE staff, pointedly saying, “maybe they thought the order was sausage and a bun.”

As for how much it cost, the person behind the posting confirmed the sausage on a bun was $5.99 plus tax.

“Considerably one of the cheaper food options at the CNE this year,” they said. “But I got a sausage with a dinner roll instead — not my idea of sausage on a bun.”

The order is even more shocking if you consider how much the CNE prides itself on its food selection, which includes unique options like ketchup and mustard ice cream, mac and cheese pizza, and a mac and cheese lemonade, for good measure.

One Twitter user that caught a glimpse of the now notorious sausage on a bun photo had some harsher words for the CNE.

“What is this? The CNE is alienating its supporters by upping prices, and now they’re even cheaping out on simple food items, such as a sausage on a bun. Ridiculous.”

The Exhibition in Toronto wraps up on Monday, September 5.
