Man charged after armed carjacking, assaulting victim at Brampton home

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man concerning an armed carjacking caught on surveillance video outside a Brampton home.

Police confirmed with CityNews that an armed carjacking occurred on Sunday around 7 p.m. at a residence near Ebenezer Road and The Gore Road.

Video submitted to CityNews shows a man driving a white Range Rover pulling up to a residence. Once the man drives the car into his garage, the driver of the black vehicle is seen speeding up to the house and stopping out front.

    That’s when one person, whose face is covered with what appears to be a mask, gets out and rushes to the garage, where the suspect and the white SUV owner are seen engaging in a struggle in the driveway.

    The suspect fled the area in the stolen Range Rover. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

    On Thursday, police updated the investigation by noting that 23-year-old Tyrell Amos of Toronto was arrested hours after the violent incident occurred.

    Amos faces multiple charges, including robbery and the use of an imitation firearm. He was held on bail.

    “Stay alert and report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the police. When driving your vehicle, waiting at a traffic light or parked, ensure your vehicle doors are locked to prevent access from any persons outside,” a Peel police spokesperson said.
