6 people charged in connection with string of gun violence in Peel Region

Six people are facing charges in connection with what Peel police say is a string of gun violence in the region over a three-month period.

Investigators said they responded to four separate shooting incidents between August 13 and Oct. 3 in which several residential units and vehicles were struck by gunfire. In one of the incidents, a 27-year-old man was struck and suffered severe injuries.

As a result of the investigation, more than 30 charges were laid, four handguns and more than 50 rounds of ammunition were allegedly seized.

Kevonte Marksman, 20, of Brampton, and Elijah Kerridge-Lall, 20, Whitby have been charged with attempted murder using a firearm and several other firearm-related offences.

Shamar Lindsay, 20, Nayshawn Oakley, 20, Marquez Senior, 19, and Tyanthony Yee-Brown, 21, all from Brampton are also facing firearm-related charges.

They have all been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
