Police release photo of person of interest in Ajax shooting that injured 7

Durham regional police have released security images of a person of interest being sought in connection to a shooting in Ajax last summer that injured seven people.

Emergency crews were called to the back of Dams Foods on Harwood Avenue South near Highway 401 at around 1:20 a.m. on August 1, 2022.

Police found five victims at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds, one with life-threatening injuries.

“A sixth person showed up at a Toronto hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound and a seventh victim came forward in the following days,” police said in an update Wednesday.

Officers said they believe the suspect was at a customer appreciation event when he got into a verbal fight with other people in attendance, leading to the shooting.

The suspect fled in a dark-coloured, four-door vehicle.

On Wednesday, police described the person of interest as a man, 25 to 35 years old with a slim build, short dark hair and well-groomed facial hair.

He was wearing a blue print shirt which was open in the front.
