2 men charged after investigation into Queen West store allegedly selling magic mushrooms

Two men have been charged in a drug investigation into the Queen West store “Shroomyz.”

Toronto police say they became involved in an investigation into the commercial store at Queen Street West and Denison Avenue that was allegedly selling Psilocybin and Psilocybin-derived edibles, also known as magic mushrooms.

A search warrant was obtained and then executed on Saturday. Officers arrested two men and allegedly seized dried psilocybin and Psilocybin-derived edibles.

Fabricio Osores, 20, of Hamilton and Seyon Tharmathasan, 23, of Toronto have been charged with possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000.

They are expected to appear in court on Jan. 12.

A website for the retail store “Shroomyz” describes itself as “Toronto’s first medical mushroom dispensary” and also has a location in Ottawa.
