Ontario Provincial Police officers say three people have died after they were found on Boxing Day in a New Tecumseth home that was on fire.
According to a statement issued by Nottawasaga OPP officers Tuesday afternoon, emergency crews were called to the home on Pyne Hills Court, north of Highway 9 and west of Tottenham Road, just after 4 p.m. on Monday.
The statement said the initial call to officers was for a “well-being check,” but after they arrived they found a fire at the home.
It said two people were found dead inside the home while a third person was taken to a hospital where they later died.
Investigators said they haven’t determined how all three people died.
While the specific circumstances surrounding the call haven’t been disclosed, officers said they “believe there is no imminent threat to public safety.”
Meanwhile, OPP forensics and criminal investigation branch officers along with Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal investigators and the province’s chief coroner’s office all continue to probe the deaths.
