The Toronto Maple Leafs have been fined $100,00 due to a violation in the collective bargaining agreement in regards to travel on Dec. 26 on their way to St. Louis, NHL Public Relations announced Wednesday.

Per the agreement, Dec. 24, 25 and 26 are off days for all NHL teams and therefore are not allowed to have any organized activities on those three days, including travel.

The violation is of Article 16.5(b), which states: No Club shall be required to travel on the day of an NHL Game if the average scheduled flight time for the airplane on which the Club would travel is greater than two and one-half (2 1/2) hours; provided, however, the foregoing shall not be applicable if the Club has played an NHL Game on the day before.

The $100,000 fine will go to the NHL Foundation.

The league also fined Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe $25,000 on Wednesday for demanding conduct toward an NHL referee. That sum of money will also go towards the foundation.
