Toronto Animal Services drastically reduces dog adoption fees until end of month

The City of Toronto has significantly reduced dog adoption fees at Toronto Animal Shelters to give these pups a good home.

Toronto Animal Services will charge $25 until Jan. 31, saying many dogs up for adoption have been at the shelter for an extended period “and often get overlooked.”

“We’re hoping to get some of these fantastic pups out of the shelter and onto your sofas and find them the forever home they deserve,” the City of Toronto said.

Some of the dogs available for adoption include five-year-old Joey, a Great Pyrenees mix; two-year-old Humphrey, a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix; Hugo, a two-year-old German Shepherd mix and Scottie, a nine-month-old Siberian Husky.

According to the city’s website, the regular adoption fees for male and female dogs are $185 and $215, respectively. A valid driver’s licence or identification with a current address is required, and payment of the adoption fee can be made in cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

City officials note that when you adopt a pet, you must care for the animal for the rest of its life. “This can be up to 20 years. For a shorter commitment, consider adopting an older pet,” the city said.
