NORAD confirms high-altitude airborne object floating over Northern Canada

Military aircraft are currently operating from Alaska and Canada in support of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) activities after they confirmed that they have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada.

While NORAD cannot discuss specifics related to the activities at this time, they tell CityNews that they sustained and dispersed operations in the defence of North America through one or all three NORAD regions.

The details of the object is or what it is doing over the country have not been released.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he had ordered the object to be shot down via his Twitter account, saying the object was successfully shot down over the Yukon.

The object’s appearance over Canada comes only days after a suspected Chinese spy balloon was shot down after violating American and Canadian airspace.

The U.S. military shot down a second object in Alaskan airspace on Friday, though it has not provided details on what it was.

This report contains files from the Canadian Press.
